Q&A with Lindsey Rozmes

Behind the Retreats: Lindsey’s Story & Expertise
If you are comfortable answering, what are some of the events or challenges that led you to develop your work?

I found yoga during a really difficult time in my life, the loss of my dad. In that season, I fell deeply into the practice. I ran from my corporate job to class every single day because it was the only thing that made me feel steady. Yoga revealed its heart-healing abilities, and I began to see it as more than just movement. It was medicine.

I signed up for my 200hr teacher training without the intention to teach, but afterwards I felt called to share the tools that had supported me so much. One of my teachers said, “A lot of people come to yoga thinking they’ll learn how to stand on their head, but what they really learn is how to stand on their own two feet.” That resonated with me then, and it still does.

For me, yoga isn’t so much about physical alignment as it is about spiritual alignment. It’s a practice that introduces you to yourself, and that’s the part I love sharing most.

Today, my work has grown into mentoring yoga teachers—supporting them in refining their cueing, crafting intentional sequences, and stepping into their role as confident, authentic guides, so they can carry this intention forward into their own communities.

What were some of the signs or challenges that first brought you to this aspect of your life’s work?

One of the unexpected doorways into this part of my life’s work came through my relationship with my husband, Federico. We dated long distance for a year, unsure if we’d ever really be able to build a life together. The first time I left the U.S., I was 25 and on my way to visit him in Italy. I’ll never forget waking up in Florence to the sound of the Duomo bells as breakfast was delivered to the door of our little B&B—it felt like living inside a dream.

That trip was my first real taste of international travel and culture, and it completely expanded my world. My appetite for seeing and experiencing new places only grew from there. Today, I love being able to share that same sense of wonder and possibility with my yoga community—creating retreats that blend practice with travel, connection, and the magic of discovering somewhere new.

What are some ways you manage work-life balance?

Work-life balance is something I take seriously, because burnout is very real—especially during teacher training season. My love language is “I made a reservation.” I’m happiest exploring new restaurants or cocktail bars in the city, or catching live music (I almost never miss my favorite artists when they come through New York). I prioritize time with the people I love, and I build in small rituals that help me recharge. If I’ve had back-to-back training sessions on a weekend or see my commitments start to stack too deep, I’ll either book myself a massage or block out a full “drool day”—the kind where I hang on the couch in my jammies with a glass of wine, a no-brainer rom-com, and my phone on DND.

Where do you live now? Is this your dream location, and why?

I moved to New York City for college and have been here ever since. I’m definitely a New Yorker, this city will always be my home base. For me, it’s New York or the tropics and nothing in between. I could easily live the island life. The real dream though is having the freedom to escape NYC winters and return home when the city is alive and buzzy. There’s definitely a villa in Italy in my future plans!

How have your travels impacted & inspired your life and/or work perspective?

Travel is everything to me. I love airports. Leading retreats in Italy, Croatia, studying with my teacher in India, wandering new cities — it always resets my perspective. I want to see as much of the world as I can, and I love guiding students to experience yoga inside these new environments. It shifts the practice in the most beautiful ways.

Where did you spend most of your childhood?

I grew up in South Jersey, where my happy place is still by my mom’s pool in the summer, reading with family close by.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Are you involved with any local or online communities that inspire or support you personally or in your work?
In my free time, I enjoy moving my body in different ways—step aerobics, reformer Pilates, or long city walks. At home, I immensely love hosting dinner parties, cooking up a new recipe for me and my husband, and spinning vinyl while we hang out. I’m always dreaming up plans for renovating our apartment (my degree is actually in interior design), and fashion will forever be one of my favorite forms of expression.

Community and being social is also a huge part of what inspires me. I’ve found so much connection in New York’s yoga & wellness scene, and I’ve built deep roots in the online teaching community as well. Being part of spaces where people share ideas, creativity, and support keeps me inspired in my own work.

What are your morning practices and routines that set you up to win every day?

If you had told me in my 20s that I’d become this much of a morning person, I never would have believed it. Now I love an early start. I’ve learned that I’m simply a better yoga teacher when I prioritize my mornings for myself. I need at least an hour before I leave the house to wake up slowly, drink my cappuccino, and then either work out or go for a long walk. That quiet time helps me untangle my mind and get prana moving, so I can show up as my best self for my students and step into the day from a place of presence.

What are you passionate about that most people don’t know?

Something most people don’t know about me is how passionate I am about music. I’m not musical myself, but I’m constantly listening—basically a human Shazam. Making yoga playlists and mixtapes is one of my favorite creative outlets.

I especially love psychedelic rock and a good distorted guitar, definitely not the kind of thing you’d ever hear in a yoga class. At the same time, I grew up on my mom’s disco and Motown, with Sinatra playing every Sunday morning in our house, so my soundtrack has always been eclectic.

For me, music can make or break a vibe—at a party, a restaurant, even a yoga class. I love discovering new artists (I’m always excited to catch the opener at a show), and I’ll happily travel just to see my favorite bands live.

Open Question: What else would you like your readers and potential retreat participants to know about you or that you might like to know about another retreat leader?

I am passionate about teaching, and I deeply believe in this work. What I love most is creating intentional, creative vinyasa classes that steady awareness and reconnect you to yourself. I aim to craft the circumstances that leave plenty of space for you to make the practice your own. For me, yoga isn’t about chasing poses or perfection; it’s about experience, sensitivity, and curiosity.

More than anything, I want people to feel like they belong—that yoga can be a source of joy, discovery, and a deeper relationship with yourself. That’s the same energy I bring to retreats: spaces where practice, travel, and community weave together to create memories and transformations you carry home with you.

What a fantastically organized Mexico trip. This company took a lot of time and effort before the trip to make sure we were prepared for activities and it made such a difference. From transportation to accommodation everything was super. I thought this retreat was an awesome value. The excursions were fun and each day was well thought out. The instructors Desi and Natalya were fabulous and fun to be around. I highly recommend this company.

From start to finish this was an amazing experience! The Zoetry Casa Del Mar Los Cabos provided a beautiful backdrop for this retreat with a beautiful suite, gorgeous views, good food and great amenities. I made new friends along the way and found our sessions inspiring and transformative. What could be better than yoga sessions looking out at the Pacific Ocean! Thank you for this amazing opportunity Desi and Dr. Natiya. I left feeling relaxed and centered and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this retreat.
