Meet Karen Slack

What began as my personal experience—that female friendships are the backbone of a life well lived—grew into a mission.

Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to have a close circle of women who have celebrated with me, supported me through challenges, made me laugh until I cried, and reminded me who I am when life felt overwhelming. Those friendships have enriched my life in ways unexplainable.

At some point, I realized that not every woman has that kind of community—and many are quietly longing for it. BLUSH is my way of extending that experience into the world.

It’s an opportunity for women to step away from their daily responsibilities, gather around a table with other like minded women, and create the kinds of friendships that make life richer, fuller, and more meaningful.

Women’s travel & connection

Today, I host intimate travel experiences where women can explore beautiful destinations and form meaningful connections that last after the trip ends.

My approach is simple:

No drama, gossip or pressure to perform.

Just genuine women sharing meals, experiences, laughter, and conversation.

I’ve learned that most women aren’t looking for another workshop, another course, or another thing to fix.

They’re looking for belonging and friendship and women who accept them just as they are.

And that’s exactly what these trips are designed to create.

And together through intimate group travel experiences where authentic relationships, shared adventures, and lasting friendships naturally unfold. Her mission is simple: help women find their people. BLULSH – build a life unapolgetically self honoring.

Thanksgiving has always been about gathering around the table with the people who matter most—and Karen Slack is redefining who gets a seat. Karen created BLUSH after discovering firsthand how transformative the right circle of women can be. After navigating her own life rebuild following divorce, she realized that what women need most isn’t another workshop or self-improvement plan—it’s real, genuine connection with women who just get it. So, she did something about it.

Q&A with Karen Slack

Behind the Retreats: Karen's Story & Expertise
What inspired you to start hosting trips for women?

Everything started with a breakup that left me fed up.

I had spent years learning hard lessons about relationships, self-worth, boundaries, and rebuilding. At some point, I felt a strong desire to share what I had learned so other women wouldn’t have to go through the same things alone.

What surprised me was how quickly a community began to form. Women weren’t necessarily looking for advice. They were looking for validation. They wanted to know they weren’t crazy, they weren’t broken, and they weren’t the only ones navigating these experiences.

As women began connecting with one another, something beautiful happened. The focus shifted from what we’d been through to what we were creating next. That’s when I realized the real magic was women finding each other.

What kind of woman is the perfect fit for your trips?

The women who thrive on these trips tend to be chill, down-to-earth, and completely over drama.

They’re open-minded, kind, curious, and enjoy meeting new people. They value peace. They’re interested in genuine conversations rather than surface-level small talk. They appreciate authenticity and aren’t trying to impress anyone.

Most importantly, they’re looking for real connection. They want other women to share experiences with, laugh with, travel with, and do life alongside.

What makes your trips different from other women’s retreats?

I don’t sell healing. I don’t sell coaching. And I don’t believe women need another thing to fix.

What I offer is something much simpler: a space for women to do what women naturally do best—connect.

I create an environment where there is no pressure to perform, no expectation to be anyone other than yourself, and no agenda beyond enjoying the experience together.

When you remove distractions, obligations, and the pressures of everyday life, women form meaningful relationships incredibly quickly. That’s what makes these trips special.

Most women come alone. What would you say to someone who is nervous?

Every woman comes alone.

But they all arrive with one important thing in common: they’re creating an intentional next chapter of their lives.

Many have been through divorce. Others have experienced major life transitions. What unites them is a willingness to say yes to themselves and to new experiences.

By the first dinner, everyone realizes they’re surrounded by women who understand exactly what it feels like to walk into a room not knowing anyone.

What do you hope women take home from these experiences?

New friendships.

Of course I want everyone to have an incredible week together, but what matters most to me is what happens after the trip.

I want women leaving with phone numbers, group chats, future travel plans, and relationships that continue long after they’ve unpacked their suitcase.

Some of my closest friends live states away. We don’t see each other often, but we talk all the time. Technology makes it easier than ever to stay connected, and I love watching women build friendships that stretch across the country.

What has surprised you most about bringing women together?

How healing it can be.

Therapy is valuable. Counseling is valuable.

But there is something uniquely powerful about putting a group of healthy, growth-minded women together in the same space.

When women feel safe, supported, understood, and accepted, big change happens.

The energy that comes from women genuinely supporting one another is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

What do you believe women are craving most right now?

A community with real connections and friendships.

Women don’t need another course, another podcast, or another self-improvement project.

They need real people.

They need women they can call, text, travel with, celebrate with, and lean on when life gets hard.

Community isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.

If every woman reading this remembered one thing, what would you want her to know?

The best years are not behind you.

No matter what you’ve been through, no matter how old you are, and no matter what your life looks like today, there is still so much possibility ahead.

A beautiful next chapter doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when you’re willing to stay open, stay hopeful, and keep saying yes to new experiences, new friendships, and new opportunities.

The best years are yet to come—and you have far more power than you realize in creating them.
