Meet Mel Owens

Owens’ influence reaches beyond the courtroom and playing field. He has served in advisory roles within legal education, contributed regularly to podcasts and radio programming, and was recognized by The Sporting News as one of the Top 100 Influential People in Hockey (2016).

His career also spans entertainment and media. Owens is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), with appearances in the film The Distinguished Gentleman alongside Eddie Murphy and the HBO series First & 10. He further expanded his public profile as the lead of the hit reality series The Golden Bachelor – Season 2.

A Life of Strength, Purpose, and Exploration

An adventurer and endurance athlete, Owens has completed the Los Angeles Marathon and participated in the famed Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Outside of his professional pursuits, he is an avid photographer, accomplished chef, and global traveler who has visited more than 100 countriMel Owens, 67, father of two-boys is a former NFL first-round draft pick, accomplished attorney, educator, and respected voice at the intersection of sports, law, wellness and culture.

A graduate of the University of Michigan (1981), Owens distinguished himself on the football field, helping lead the Wolverines to four Big Ten Championships and four Rose Bowl appearances.
